Over the past three days, TOUR4EU had the pleasure of hosting delegations from our member universities, bringing together Research Managers & Administrators from Tuscany’s higher education ecosystem. This unique training course focused on enhancing their knowledge of the #HorizonEurope programme, networking with fellow colleagues working on the programme and fostering stronger ties between academia and European institutions.
📚 The course covered key topics related to #research and #innovation, with insightful contributions from esteemed speakers across various Directorates-General and Agencies of the European Commission. Here are some of our esteemed speakers:

This event marked a milestone, as it was the first time the research personnel from most of our universities — Università degli Studi di Firenze, Università di Pisa, Università di Siena, Scuola Normale Superiore, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca — convened in Brussels to engage directly with European policymakers. It highlighted the importance of building stronger synergies between research management and EU-level opportunities.
🔗 As TOUR4EU, we act as the everyday liaison between these universities and the European institutions, ensuring that Tuscany’s research excellence is connected to European funding and collaborative initiatives. We are excited about future collaborations with other European stakeholders and universities to advance Research & Innovation made-in-Europe, while promoting the interests of the #TuscanHigherEducationEcosystem.

On September 27, our Head of Office, Simona Costa, addressed this question during the panel “𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬” at the #BrightNight, the European Researchers’ Night, hosted by the Università di Pisa.
Simona discussed the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs at a regional level and the role of policies in supporting their growth. She emphasized how #EuropeanUniversityAlliances can drive change by working closely with regions and policymakers.
Representing TOUR4EU, the association that unites the seven Tuscan universities, Simona highlighted our key role in three major European University Alliances:
